Healthy Living Made Simple - Alkaline Lifestyle!
The Alkaline Lifestyle is a revolutionary breakthrough based on the research of several 20th century chemists and health professionals who realized that cancer cells flourish in an acidic environment. This finding led them to create the theory that health could be maintained by keeping the body in an alkaline state. While it is true that the human body keeps certain fluids such as blood at a very strict pH level, it is the overall alkalinity or the acidity of the system that is measured and changed through the alkaline lifestyle.
The alkaline lifestyle concepts are simple: keep the body in an alkaline state through healthy, balanced eating focused on a plant-based diet; engage in regular exercise suitable for your fitness level; drink ionized alkaline water; and quiet the mind, releasing stress and creating a peaceful state through mindfulness, meditation, and spiritual connections.

Ionized alkaline mineral water supplies essential nutrient minerals like calcium, magnesium and potassium as antioxidant ionized minerals; which fight premature aging and tissue damage in the body. The water has an alkaline pH balance, which helps the body counter excessive acidity caused by diet, stress and other factors.
Research proves that drinking alkaline water raises the pH of your urine. Raising urine pH has two important benefits:
- Reduces your chance of forming kidney stones
- Improves the function of your kidneys, helping you to detox naturally
Keep in mind that low urinary pH is a symptom of Metabolic Syndrome, which is a combination of physiological screw ups that result in: Obesity, high blood pressure, heart problems, digestive problems and other illnesses. As you can see, raising the pH of your urine is very important!
The water is microclustered, which makes it easier for your body to absorb, resulting in better hydration. Dehydration is a national epidemic; it contributes to Obesity, blood sugar problems, kidney problems and more.
Your digestive tract needs to be well hydrated for it to work well. Alkaline water is especially helpful in your intestines, which have an alkaline pH.
Research confirms that there is a link between drinking ionized alkaline mineral water and good bone health. Keep in mind that Biphosphonate drugs (for bone health) have been shown to actually increase women’s risk for two types of hip fractures!
The best way to get alkaline water is with a home water ionizer. Our partner in healthy living, LIFE Ionizers offers a full line of countertop, under the counter, convertible and travel ionizers that make healthy alkaline, ionized water. For more information, visit www.LifeIonizers.com
Vegetarianism and Veganism are diets, elements of both are found in the Alkaline Lifestyle but living alkaline is more than just a diet. The Alkaline Lifestyle is a holistic combination of diet, exercise, and stress reduction that leads to good health.
Clean eating refers to eating food that has no toxins, byproducts, and other chemicals in it. We recommend you make sure the foods in your alkaline diet are clean. Alkaline Living differs from clean eating by making sure the foods you eat have an alkaline pH, in addition to being free from toxins.
A raw food diet is based on the belief that heat can destroy the enzymes in food, so food should never be heated over 120 degrees. We recommend eating mainly alkaline foods, but the Alkaline Lifestyle is more than just food! Alkaline living is more than just the food you eat, because stress, toxins, your mindset, and even the water you drink have an effect on your health!
Yes, the microforms and myco/exo toxins that can lead to a range of health problems (e.g. flu, colds, insomnia, lethargy, dry skin, etc) thrive in an acidic environment. By maintaining an alkaline pH balance your body does not provide sufficient acidity for them to thrive in. Mycotoxins are fungal, and exotoxins are bacterial, they are created in the body from the waste byproducts produced by the digestion of proteins, fats and glucose.
Your blood maintains a strict pH between 7.3 and 7.4. Acidosis occurs when blood pH falls below 7.35 and alkalosis occurs when blood pH rises above 7.45. These are both life-threatening conditions. The rest of your bodily fluids (the fluid in cells, between cells etc) seem to like it best at a neutral pH of 7 or slightly above (7.5). You can determine your blood pH through a blood test.
An easier way to track pH trends is to measure the pH of your urine using test strips. Unlike blood pH, which must be maintained within a strict range (or else you would die) your kidneys can produce a urine pH anywhere from 4.5 to 8. Your urine pH is highly dependent on what you eat. Therefore, it is a great dietary indicator of how much acidic vs. alkaline food you are eating.
For example, if your urine is consistently acidic, your kidneys are working very hard and you are likely eating a disproportionate amount of acidic food. Try to keep you urine pH on the alkaline side around 7 to 7.5 to ensure all buffering mechanisms are working properly.
Being overall acidic is often accompanied by many physical problems and diseases so the symptoms can range quite widely. Some of the more common symptoms include low energy, weight gain, chronic fatigue, headaches, depression, weakened immune system, dull skin and hair, weak nails, ulcers, muscle wasting, bone loss and tendency to get infections.
The alkalinity or acidity of food is measured by the pH value of the ash residue that remains after the food has been metabolized by our body. Scientists simulate this by burning foods and measuring the pH of the residue. This ash can be acid, alkaline or neutral based mostly on the mineral content of the food.
Normally, minerals like potassium, calcium, magnesium, zinc, silver, sodium and iron leave an alkaline residue while sulphur, chlorine, phosphorous and iodine leave acid residue.
Food pH is easy to understand. 'Bad' foods (sugar, refined foods, foods high in saturated fat and trans fats, meat, dairy, yeast, fizzy drinks, crisps, chocolate, alcohol etc) all leave an acid ash. Conversely, 'good foods' like vegetables, many fruits, nuts, and ionized alkaline mineral water are alkalizing.
I’ve heard your body takes care of regulating its own pH so isn’t this Alkaline Living concept a scam?
Your body does regulate its own pH… by stealing calcium from your bones! There are many other “compromises” your body makes to adjust to acidity as well. These compromises are well known to lead to high blood pressure, heart disease, and obesity among other problems. So yes, your body can regulate its own pH, but it will cost you your life.
