Many of us would love to bring more joy into our lives. Some of us are naturally happy and joyful people. However, for most of us being joyful may take a concerted effort on occasion. In general, doing things that help to keep us healthy such as exercising, eating well, keeping hydrated, and getting ample amounts of rest will help us to be blissful. When we feel vibrant and fit we have more energy to do things that delight us such as spending time with friends and family and keeping up with our favorite hobbies.

Adding more alkaline foods to your diet can help to bring more joy into your home and life. Here some of the reasons why:

Boost Your Energy

Eating fresh, raw, fruits, vegetables, sprouts, legumes, grains, nuts, and seeds can really help to boost your energy. This is because alkaline foods are chock full of vitamins, minerals, and Phytonutrients. Alkaline foods give your body the nutrients it needs, which will help to increase your energy. The more energy you have, the more vibrant you will feel. If you are feeling healthy and strong, you will be able to spend more of your time and energy on activities that bring you pleasure.

Eliminate Food Allergens

Eating alkaline foods can help you to improve your health if you suffer from food allergies and sensitivities. This is because most alkaline foods do not typically contain foods that are most likely to cause allergic reactions such as dairy, eggs, and soy products. Following many alkaline recipes makes it easy to avoid the most common allergens. So, even if you have undiagnosed food sensitivities, eating alkaline will help you to feel healthier and more energetic.

Bring You Closer to Your Food

Many westerners consume what is commonly referred to as the Standard American Diet (SAD). This diet tends to include foods that are highly processed, while being high in fat, cholesterol, calories, and refined sugars. The SAD diet keeps us disconnected from our food source. It is easy to wander the aisles of our local grocery store and purchase items without really thinking about where they came from or what they will do to our bodies.

Eating alkaline food means eating whole foods. When you transition away from processed foods you may notice that you begin to pay more attention to where your food was grown and by whom.  Having a  connection to where our food comes from is important for our spirit, as well as for protecting the earth  and our communities. Acknowledging and appreciating the origins of your food can help to bring more peace and bliss into your life.

Perhaps you are someone who enjoys spending time in the kitchen and loves to learn more things. Well, incorporating new alkaline foods into your diet is a great way to learn more about food and the many uses of your kitchen. Think of learning about preparing alkaline foods as one more way to enhance your culinary expertise!

Reduce Your Carbon Footprint

Incorporating raw alkaline foods into your diet is a great way to help to protect our environment. Alkaline foods tend to create less waste than processed foods. This is because fresh fruits, vegetables, legumes, grains, nuts, seeds, and herbs tend to arrive at your home in less packaging than many of the processed foods found in the standard grocery store. These foods are also compostable, reducing our need to send waste to our landfills. Being environmentally conscious can bring great peace and joy into our lives because we get to experience the satisfaction we feel when we do the right thing, not just for ourselves, but for all of our fellow inhabitants of the earth.

As you can see, there are a multitude of reasons why eating more alkaline foods can bring you and your family happiness.  You don’t have to eat only alkaline foods to enjoy the benefits of the alkaline lifestyle. Even if you are willing to incorporate just one more fruit or vegetable serving into your daily routine, you will be benefiting yourself and the earth.
